Market Vectors Coal ETF (KOL) — This investment seeks to replicate the price and yield performance of the Stowe Coal Index, and typically invests at least 80% of its total assets in equity securities in the coal industry.
This ETF bottomed in November 2008 at less than $10. The low of November was confirmed with a double-bottom in March 2009, and then by a gold cross in June.
Since then, this ETF has been trading in an orderly bull channel, which has made new highs almost monthly since the March bottom.
KOL appears to be under heavy accumulation and will likely make another new high soon above $40.
For long-term investors, KOL represents a solid investment in the returns of the coal industry.
