ChangeWave’s latest corporate IT spending survey points to an uptick in 3rd Quarter spending – the sixth consecutive quarterly improvement for this key indicator. And while the overall growth rate is still far from robust, it’s the strongest since August 2007.

The survey of 1,678 corporate IT buyers also points to one company showing surging momentum in the enterprise market: Apple (AAPL[1]).

Apple Mac Demand Hits New High

Planned corporate Mac buying has hit a new all time high, with 12% saying their company will be buying Mac laptops and 7% desktops in the 3rd quarter.

What’s driving the upbeat corporate outlook for the Cupertino, California manufacturer?

We took a closer look at corporate demand for the Apple iPad tablet, to see if it could provide any further insights into corporate demand for Apple products generally.

Surging Corporate iPad Demand

A total of 4% of respondents say their company has already purchased Apple iPad tablets – a very impressive number for a product on the market just a few months.

Even more impressive, going forward 6% say their company plans on purchasing iPads in the next 90 days.

But what are businesses using their new iPads for?

Current users ranked Working Away From the Office (56%) and Checking Email (56%) as their top business uses, along with Internet Access (50%).

Bottom Line: The Mac Laptop and iPad purchasing results show corporate momentum for Apple is rising at a faster pace than current projections. Simply put, Apple is experiencing its greatest enterprise growth rate ever in a ChangeWave survey.
