CVS Grabs Options and Huge Fed Contract

High Options Volume by Strike

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) tops the strike volume list with its INTC Jan 12 28 Call trading 101,000 options.

The CBOE Volatility Index (CBOE: VIX) sees more than 82,000 options trade in the VIX Aug 50 Call, as the VIX is valued at 15.71. The strike is down .05 to .25.

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSE: SPY) Weekly 133 Put trades 73,000 contracts, down .30 to .04.

Stocks/Underlying – Big Daily Change in Option Volume

Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) trades 17,414 options, a jump of more than 400% as the stock rises .48 to 18.99. OptionMONSTER reports 13,000 contracts traded in a spread of July 18 Puts and July 16 Puts. Sold the 18s and bought the 16s for a credit of 0.40.

Medcohealth Solutions (NYSE: MHS) trades 30,347 options, a rise of more than 300% from a typical day. MHS fell more than 10% as it lost a $3 billion contract to provide pharmacy benefits to federal workers.

CVS Caremark (NYSE: CVS) took the contract from MHS and 38,277 options trade in the retailer/pharmacist. CVS was up .79 to 38.94.

Stocks/Underlying – High Option Volume

The SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE: SPY) has option volume of about 897,000 contracts as it trades up to 133.61.  The Standard & Poor’s Index Options (CBOE: SPX) is up 6.66 to 1332.35 on more than 208,000 option contracts.

The iShares Silver Trust (NYSE: SLV) trades more than 174,063 options as it rises to 36.88.

The CBOE Volatility Index (CBOE: VIX) is down .38 to 15.71 with 172,000 options traded against the index.

The iShares Russell 2000 Index ETF (NYSE: IWM) trades more than 166,000 options as it rises .52 to 83.60.
