Who will be the next hot tech company? As seen with recent IPOs — such as from Splunk[1] (NASDAQ:SPLK[2]), Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA[3]) and Yelp (NYSE:YELP[4]) — investors are getting excited about technology again. No doubt, the Facebook IPO will be a huge boost. Just look at the media attention with the company’s $1 billion purchase of Instagram[5].
So, lots of startups want to get a piece of the action. In fact, 81 companies came to pitch their deals at the Demo conference this week[6].
According to VentureBeat, here are the standouts:
TourWrist: This provides 3D tours on your Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL[7]) iPhone. And yes, you can link these to your Facebook profile.
ZBoard: This is an electric, weight-sensing skateboard (with Bluetooth-enabled speakers so you can listen to your smartphone).
Voxeet: A mobile app to deliver better conference calling.
VisApp: An app to virtually renovate or landscape your home.
Jumala: This allows people to create their own 3D games, without having to be a software engineer.
