The world’s tallest Holiday Inn (NYSE:IHG) is under construction in Lower Manhattan, appropriately enough near the World Trade Center. When completed, the 50-story hotel will stand 448-feet tall and hold 400 rooms, according to USA Today.
“A Holiday Inn in this location is also a further testament to the success of the Holiday Inn relaunch … and the overall strength of the Holiday Inn brand,” Joel Eisemann, IHG’s chief development officer for the Americas, told USA Today.
Eisemann believes that the project will be good for New York City as well as for Holiday Inn.
“It’s in a great location at the intersection of Rector Street and Washington Avenue and in close proximity to all of the World Trade Center redevelopments. This area of New York City is coming back in a big way, and we’re dedicated to our expansion in New York, one of the world’s most important hotel markets,” Eisemann continued.
An opening date has not yet been set for the new high rise.
