Porn Studio Tours Prompt Groupon Boycott

Walking tour discount for adult video set irks conservative group

Online discount deal purveyor Groupon (NASDAQ:GRPN) is facing heat from a conservative cultural watchdog group for selling tickets for a tour of a porn company’s studios.

Morality in Media has launched a boycott aimed at persuading Groupon to stop offering discount coupons for tours of fetish video producer Kink.com’s sets, located in the San Francisco Armory building.

Business Insider notes that the San Francisco Armory has a history of notable film production, including scenes from “Star Wars.”

Current productions at the Armory are a little more down to earth, however.

The conservative group is asking Groupon to discontinue the walking tour discounts because of objectionable material in Kink.com videos, including footage of men and women “immobilized, caged and humiliated as objects.”

The discount featured on Groupon’s website offers coupons for a walking tour of the Armory building and Kink.com’s pornographic film sets for two, priced at $28. The offer expires in January.

Kink.com has used the building’s castle-like interior as the setting for bondage videos since 2006.
