The comments follow whispers that Huffington had approached AOL herself with financial backing to buy the Post, Business Insider noted.

She  joked about starting a campaign to raise $1 billion, the amount allegedly demanded by AOL in the purchase rumors.

AOL purchased the Huffington Post in 2011 for $315 million.

Huffington added that while approaches had been made to AOL, the talks had gone nowhere.
