It seems like everyone is taking shots at big banks.
During the past few years, bashing financial giants like Bank of America (NYSE:BAC[1]), Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC[2]) and JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM[3]), among others, has become a popular trend. Many consumers find it therapeutic. Some industry rivals have learned it can be profitable[4] to slam the so-called villains of the Great Recession.
While there are banks and credit unions who don’t want to pick on their own — something about the old adage “those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones” — there are many that eagerly pounce on opportunities to beat up on the big guys.
Just for fun, we put together a list of our five favorite bank-bashing commercials.
This credit union shares turf with BofA headquarters. So we’re guessing that ad creators had their neighbor in mind when filming this commercial.
This commercial from the Minnesota-based credit union links big banks to a big embarrassment.

American’s aren’t the people grumbling about giant banks. This ad from a New Zealand bank is a nod to the “golden parachute” that some bank CEOs reportedly get when they mess up.

Here’s an example of a big bank picking on other big banks by claiming to be different from its competition. ANZ Bank is the fourth-largest bank in Australia.
This commercial isn’t as sophisticated as some of the others on our list, but it gets its point across. Members Advantage Credit Union is based in Michigan City, Ind.
