Apple TV Set Looks Like Large Cinema Display: The much-anticipated Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) television will look very similar[4] to the company’s line of Cinema Display monitors, but is much larger, Cult of Mac reports. The TVs will feature LED back-lighting, an iSight camera for video conference calls using FaceTime, and Siri for voice control. An unnamed source said that the iSight camera possessed facial recognition ability and could track people moving in front of the TV, Cult of Mac said.
Progress Made Toward Proview iPad Settlement: Talks between Apple and Proview Technology over rights to the iPad name in China are accelerating[5], according to Xinhua. Chinese officials recently expressed support for Proview’s position, all but ensuring that Apple would lose its court battle with the Chinese firm. Sources close to the negotiations say that Apple is now discussing a compensation package with Proview to resolve the litigation, Xinhua reported.
iPhones Replace Hole-Punchers on Amtrak: Conductors on Amtrak trains will soon replace traditional hole-punchers[6] with iPhones when collecting passengers’ tickets, according to the New York Times. Training has been ongoing since November on selected train routes with iPhones that scan ticket bar-codes and record passenger information. The system will be rolled out nationwide by late summer, the Times said.
