No one likes getting a traffic ticket. Not only do you have to pay a fine, but your insurance rates rise as a result[1].

Not every moving violation is the same, however. Some will hit your auto insurance rates harder than others. But figuring out just how much more you will have to pay because of a ticket has always been hard to determine.

Not anymore. Insurance.com, owned by QuinStreet (NASDAQ:QNST[2]), has unveiled its “Uh-Oh! Calculator” that tells you how much a ticket will increase your auto insurance rates. The data in the calculator are derived from a review of 490,000 auto insurance quotes.

Here are 14 common tickets and the percentage they will raise auto insurance rates, according to Insurance.com.

  1. Reckless driving — 22%
  2. DUI first offense — 19%
  3. Driving without a license or permit — 18%
  4. Careless driving — 16%
  5. Speeding 30 mph over the limit — 15%
  6. Failure to stop — 15%
  7. Improper turn — 14%
  8. Improper passing — 14%
  9. Following too close/tailgating — 13%
