‘Racist’? Ashton Kutcher Online Ad Pulled

Ashton Kutcher, star of Twitter, sitcoms and a slew of films,[1] has made several questionable choices during the past few months. Currently, the quirky star is under fire for an online ad he made with Popchips.

In the ad — which has been pulled — Kutcher wore dark makeup to portray, “Raj,” an Indian Bollywood movie producer with romantic ambitions. The ad outraged many consumers who complained to popchips about its racially offensive undertones.

A spokeswoman for popchips told The Associated Press[2] that the intentions behind the commercial were innocent: “[The commercial] was created to provoke a few laughs and was never intended to stereotype or offend anyone.”
