New Apple TV Operating System to Debut at WWDC: A completely new version of the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) TV operating system will be shown off[4] at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next week, Boy Genius Reports says. The new OS offers a number of new features and will be used in an Apple-branded TV set. Apple is currently working to persuade manufacturers to adopt its remote control system for the new “iTV” set to work with other home theater devices so that they can all use a single remote control unit.

Tim Cook Would Like to See American-Made Apple Products: Answering questions at the D10 Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., last night, Apple CEO Tim Cook said he would like to see Apple make products in the U.S.[5], Apple Insider notes. Cook’s predecessor, the late Steve Jobs, told President Obama over a year ago that assembly jobs for Apple products had left the U.S. permanently. Cook noted that there were relatively few factories suited to assemble Apple products in the U.S., compared to an abundance in China.

Apple May Have Purchased Redmatica: Italian sources say Apple has purchased Redmatica[6], a digital music-editing app start-up, TechCrunch reports. Apple already offers Logic Pro and GarageBand for music editing and playback. The purchase of Redmatica might indicate that Apple is looking to add some features to its existing music-editing apps, or just acquire the start-up’s talent.
