Weight Watchers International (NYSE:WTW) believes that with its help, new mom Jessica Simpson will be able to meet her weight-loss goal. The company will reportedly pay Simpson $3 million for the partnership, according to ABC News. However, Weight Watchers has not confirmed that figure, CNNMoney reported.
Simpson made the announcement on her Facebook page Wednesday.
“It’s official, I’m joining Weight Watchers,” she wrote to her fans. “The cool thing about the program is that it focuses on healthy habits for the long-term (and I can still indulge in my guilty pleasures every now and then too). I have actually gotten a group of friends together who are going to be doing it with me. You can join me too and we can share our experiences,” Simpson continued.
Simpson’s star power and social media prowess — her FB announcement alone garnered nearly 2,000 likes — could prove beneficial for the weight-loss company after WTW took a tumble earlier this month.
