The partnership between silver screen comedian Adam Sandler and Hasbro (NASDAQ:HAS) continues to grow with at least two movies in development.
Sandler is working with the toymaker to develop a movie based on Tonka Trucks. The film, to be made by Sony (NYSE:SNE), will be animated, but feature elements to please adults, CinemaBlend notes.
Hasbro and Sandler have also teamed with Sony to create a movie based on the bestselling children’s game Candy Land.
Sandler, best known for his work in such cinematic gems as Anger Management, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer and Billy Madison, runs his own production company, Happy Madison Productions.
The Candy Land adaptation was originally considered by Comcast‘s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Universal Studios, which later dropped the idea. Sony Pictures picked the film up and brought in Sandler to co-write a new script.
Hasbro previously partnered with Universal Studios, but the studio dropped a number of Hasbro product-inspired film projects last year. One movie the studio moved forward with, Battleship, based on the classic board game, proved a big loser at the box office last month.
