Burger King today announced plans to open several hundred restaurants in Russia during the next few years. The aggressive expansion agenda is part of the chain’s partnership with Burger Rus, the largest Burger King franchisee in Russia, and VTB Capital, a leading Russian investment bank.
“We are thrilled to announce this joint venture,” José Cil, Burger King president, EMEA, said in a news release. “We believe there is tremendous opportunity to rapidly increase our market share in Russia’s fast-growing and underpenetrated quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector.”
Burger Rus has already opened 54 restaurants during the past two-and-a-half years.
