Friday Apple Rumors: iPhone Could Boost China Mobile 3G Use

daily apple rumors 300x180 Friday Apple Rumors: iPhone Could Boost China Mobile 3G Use[1]Here are your Apple rumors and AAPL[2] news items for today:

China Mobile Needs Fast Smartphone: An analyst with Topeka Capital Markets says that China Mobile (NYSE:CHL[3]), the largest wireless network on Earth, has relatively few 3G subscribers[4], a number that could be boosted with the addition of the Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL[2]) iPhone, Apple Insider notes. China Mobile has 677.5 million subscribers, but only 61.9 million 3G users. Competitors that offer the iPhone are increasing their 3G users at a faster rate. Apple has been focusing on China in recent years and a deal to bring the iPhone to China Mobile has been rumored to be in the works.

Tablet Effect on Notebook Sales Slowing: Taiwanese manufacturers believe that the impact of iPads and tablets using Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG[5]) Android system is only delaying, rather than eliminating purchases of notebooks[6], DigiTimes says. Consumers are using tablets for media consumption rather than work, and will ultimately turn back to notebooks for productivity. The release of Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT[7]) Windows 8 and Intel‘s (NASDAQ:INTC[8]) Ivy Bridge technology is expected to drive increased notebook sales.

Apple’s App Store Spreads to More Countries: The App Store will become available in 32 new countries this month[9], MacRumors notes. The App Store is already available in 133 other countries. Most of the countries receiving App Store access this month are located in Africa and Asia. Those countries include Albania, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Fiji, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Micronesia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Palau, Papua New Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.
