When it comes to purchasing groceries, — and gas[1] — consumers take convenience and prices seriously. Other factors that drive customers to a particular grocery store include good sales and promotions, cleanliness, a variety of quality merchandise and excellent service, according to a recent study from Market Force[2].

Here are eight grocery stores that consumers like best.

  1. Giant Food
  2. ShopRite
  3. Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT[3])
  4. Publix Super Markets (PINK:PUSH[4])
  5. Costco (NASDAQ:COST[5])
  6. Kroger (NYSE:KR[6])
  7. ALDI
  8. Safeway (NYSE:SWY[7])

Would you like to know how grocery stores ranked in various categories? That information and more can be found at Market Force[8].  The panel research study was conducted in March with more than 6,400 participants from multiple demographics.
