Vanilla often gets a bad rap.
In fact, one could reasonably argue that the flavor is sorely misunderstood and too often used as a synonym for dull, bland and ordinary. However, according to results from a recent survey, vanilla ice cream excites more than its fair share of taste buds, Progressive Grocer reports.
The survey, which was conducted by the International Ice Cream Association, showed that 92% of companies participating in the study said vanilla is the most popular flavor among their consumers.
Chocolate-chip mint and cookies-and-cream ice cream tied for second place with 3.7% of the vote.
Although the survey did not list specific brands, premium ice cream is the most popular variety with consumers, and frozen yogurt is making a comeback.
