Foxconn Chairman Says Next iPhone Will Put Galaxy III to Shame: Outspoken Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou told reporters that Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL[2]) next-generation iPhone will put Samsung’s Galaxy III smartphone to shame[3], Focus Taiwan notes. The new iPhone is expected to launch later this year. Gou also said it was his goal to defeat Samsung, accusing the company of having a “track record of snitching on its competitors.”
Foxconn Ramps Up LCD Production for Apple-Branded TV: Reports in Asia indicate that Foxconn has stepped up orders of LCD screens from Sharp (PINK:SHCAY), possibly in preparation for the launch of Apple’s much-anticipated TV set[4]
, MacRumors says. An Apple-branded TV is widely expected to debut before the year-end. Foxconn will receive the LCDs in the third, rather than fourth quarter of this year, prompting analysts to speculate that the move is meant to ensure that Apple-branded TVs are available in stores by Christmas.
Nokia Faces More Trouble as Lumia 900 Won’t Support Windows 8: Struggling Finnish handset maker Nokia (NYSE:NOK[5]) may face even more pressure after Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT[6]) announced that Nokia’s Lumia 900 Windows phone will not support the upcoming Windows 8 operation system[7], Apple Insider notes. Lumia 900 users will receive an OS upgrade to Windows 7.8 instead. Wall Street analysts have characterized the Lumia 900’s failure to get the Windows 8 upgrade as a “major blow” to Nokia.
