Apple Asks ICANN for .Apple Internet Domain: As the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) considers applications for new Internet domains, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has requested .apple, according to the Associated Press. Apple joins a number of companies, including American Express (NYSE:AXP), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Sony (NYSE:SNE), in requesting unique domains from ICANN. More than 1,400 new domain names have been proposed and are currently open to public comment.
Retina Displays for New MacBook Pro Cost $150: The new 15-inch MacBook Pro unveiled on Monday at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), sports a high-resolution screen that costs the company $150 per unit, Apple Insider says. The Retina display features a 2,880-by-1,880-pixel LCD screen. 13-inch and 15-inch displays found in most laptops cost between $40 and $50, while high-definition displays are priced between $90 and $100 a unit.
iMac and Mac Pro Updates Coming in 2013: Apple officials say the company will release new models and new designs for the iMac and Mac Pro next year, Forbes reports. Failure to release significant upgrades to the products lines at the WWDC this week led some commentators to express frustration that Apple is abandoning desktop machines as it looks to mobile devices. The Mac Pro line hasn’t been updated since 2010.
