Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) is teaming with internet music service provider Spotify to provide streaming music to users of its website.
The Internet search pioneer launched its own streaming music service in 2005, but shut it down just three years later after failing to attract enough subscribers willing to pay for the service, the Los Angeles Times noted.
Spotify has roughly ten million current users with 3 million of those paying a monthly subscription fee of $10 for premium service.
Yahoo officials said that adding Spotify would enhance the experience of the 700 million visitors using its website each month.
Yahoo shares rose more than 1% in early Wednesday trading.
