Angry Birds addicts will soon have another platform on which to play their favorite game[1].
Three versions of it are being adapted for gaming consoles, including Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT[2]) Xbox, Sony‘s (NYSE:SNE[3]) Playstation and Nintendo‘s (PINK:NTDOY[4]) 3DS, CNET notes. Rovio, which developed Angry Birds, is working with Activision (NASDAQ:ATVI[5]) to create console-compatible editions that will come on disks and cartridges.
Console owners will get the original game, plus the Seasons and Rio versions. The most recent edition — Angry Birds Space — isn’t currently scheduled for console adaptation.
The move from mobile devices to dedicated consoles requires that the games be reengineered “from the ground up,” according to Rovio officials. The console versions will be specifically developed to play on larger HDTV screens and will come with special features not found in the mobile games.
Console versions of Angry Birds are expected to be released in December, just in time for holiday shopping.
