If you walked into a guest room at the Damson Dene Hotel — a scenic, friendly lodging option in the Lake District of northwest England — in the past, the Bible was available for your reading pleasure. Recently, though, the owner decided it was inappropriate to have a religious book in the rooms.
The popular, erotic (and apparently more hotel appropriate) novel “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Quite a change of pace, I’d say.
The owner insists the switch was inspired by the novel’s popularity and was meant to be fun, but the hotel still has received some complaints.
If popularity is indeed the goal, the highly-anticipated, steamy serial novel “Because You Are Mind” could be an appealing choice for a bedside book, once the “Fifty Shades of Grey” fad dies down.
Other hotels have made similar moves toward modernity, as some swapped the hotel-room Bible for Amazon‘s (NASADAQ:AMZN) Kindle.
But don’t worry, the Bible is still be available for guests at the Damson Dene front desk if the dirty romance genre isn’t their thing.
