Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT[1]) is no longer the world’s largest company.

Anemic sales in the U.S. coupled with several PR nightmares[2] have contributed to the big-box retailer’s fall from No. 1 to No. 3 on this year’s Fortune Global 500 list[3]. The successes and undertakings of big oil also played a role in Wal-Mart’s exit from the top spot.
