Book publishing company Chicken Soup for the Soul has always focused on providing comfort to readers. That comfort came in writing, but it will soon be available through food as well.
What kind of food? The obvious answer is soup, but the company — which has teamed up with Daymon Worldwide or the new venture — will also offer a line of gravy.
Chicken noodle will be the first of seven soups to be launched. The initial soups will be available in two sizes of reusable and recyclable glass mason jars, the company said.
“Meal times play such an important role in living a well-balanced life that our readers and fans have asked us for years to launch a food line,” CEO Bill Rouhana said in a press release. “By creating a line of delicious comfort foods that warm the heart and nourish the soul, we are providing yet another way that we can always be there to care for and support our community.”
The soup line is expected to roll out in 2013 and expand to include a “full range of more than 100 comfort food products in a variety of different categories,” in 2014.
According to the company, all food items are being designed with mindfulness toward healthy-eating.
This isn’t the first time products have spun off from a book series. For example, stores across America are selling items inspired from the best-seller Fifty Shades of Grey, and Target (NYSE:TGT) now sells high-end Hunger Games swag.
