Dell CEO Pulls Daughter’s Twitter Account for Oversharing

Teen posted information that posed major security threats

Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) CEO Michael Dell has apparently grounded his 18-year-old daughter, Alexa, from Twitter.

Although the company has not officially commented about Alexa’s Twitter account being shut down, the teen’s social media activity was a security nightmare for the Dell family. Alexa, doing what typical teens do on Twitter, was constantly sharing personal information about the family’s whereabouts and activities, Bloomberg reports.

For high-profile families like the Dells, sharing private information in a public forum brings a host of security threats such as kidnapping, extortion, identity theft, password breaches and the like.

When it comes to rich kids broadcasting personal information via social media channels, Alexa Dell isn’t an anomaly. The Tumblr site Rich Kids of Instagram is littered with pictures of $40,000 dinner receipts and wealthy kids frolicking in the tropics — or in the case of the Dell’s, flying to Fiji.
