Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty was discovered dead in his New York City home Thursday.
Lighty was found with a gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead when emergency officials arrived on the scene, The Associated Press reports. Although a suicide note has not been found at this time, authorities do believe the wound was self-inflicted.
“Chris has been an important part of my business and personal growth for a decade,” rapper 50 Cent said in a statement. “He was a good friend and advisor who helped me develop as an artist and businessman. My prayers are with his family. He will be greatly missed.”
Lighty worked with myriad hip-hop and R&B legends like Sean “Diddy” Combs, 50 Cent, LL Cool J and Mariah Carey. He was reportedly under great financial duress and in the process of a divorce when he died.
