Since there reportedly are witnesses who say they have proof Lohan and Gavin stole the items, the investigation appears to be ongoing.

Lohan’s father, Michael, went to his Twitter account to proclaim his daughter’s innocence, chalking the accusations up to “typical tabloid BS.”

“I will NOT let Lindsay go down for this. I have Irrefutable PROOF from the owner himself that he said NOTHING was stolen,” Michael Lohan tweeted. “So let them try to involve her, at the end we will prove that this is another witch hunt.”

Lindsay Lohan has not directly addressed the matter in the press, but she did send out a tweet last week voicing her frustration with the rumor mill.

“All of this negative press is BS,” she tweeted. “Whenever I’m doing great, people fabricate lies. It’s such a shame. I’m just sayin’ xo.”

The star has experienced several setbacks and run-ins with the law (she is currently still on probation for the theft of a necklace at a Venice jewelry store), but made a comeback earlier this year.  Violation of her probation could result in jail time.

Michael Lohan, a former Wall Street trader who was investigated for insider trading and convicted of criminal contempt of court in 1990, is experiencing what he refers to as “a whole new beginning.” When not defending his family, Lohan tweets mostly about his Christian faith.
