Model Carolyn Giles has filed a $23 million lawsuit against Volvo (PINK:VOLVY), Hertz Global Holdings (NYSE:HTZ) and Ford Models for improperly using photos of her that were taken in 2007.
The photos, which Giles says were taken to exclusively promote the Volvo S40, have since appeared in various ads, including one on a singles’ website that makes her look like a professional escort.
“I was paid $2,000 unlimited usage for Volvo for their S40 model,” Giles told ABC News. “The product is Volvo S40. I didn’t say that Volvo could use my image for anything Volvo for the rest of my life.”
Here’s a look at a screenshot of the ad that most upsets Giles.
While Hertz and Ford Models have not publicly discussed the matter, Volvo did send out a statement to the press in which it said that in the ad, “the ‘sexy Swedish models’ were cars, not escorts.”
