Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA) just launched a Spanish-language TV network nationwide called MundoFox.
The channel, airing on more than 50 stations, covers more than 11 million Hispanic U.S. households — nearly 80% of the total, according to The Associated Press.
The new programming is the company’s attempt to challenge Univision’s and Telemundo’s control of the growing Hispanic market. Their networks currently each reach more than 94% of the Hispanic market.
Shows from partner RCN Television Group, such as “El Capo” and “Kdabra,” will be some of the first to air.
