Monday is off to a good start for Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS). The bookseller has announced price cuts to its e-reader tablet that will make consumers happy, while delivering a kick in the shins to archenemy Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).
Here’s a rundown of Barnes & Noble’s new pricing structure for Nook tablets.
- Nook Color: $149; was $169
- Nook Tablet (8-gigabyte): Starts at $179; was $199
- Nook Tablet (16-gigabyte): Starts at $199; was $249
The price cuts — the latest salvo in the tablet wars — mean the less expensive model of the Nook tablet now retails for $20 less than Amazon’s 8-gigabyte Kindle Fire.
As far as tablets go, Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad is still the market’s best-seller.
