Numbers Complaint: A Texas company is suing Apple over patent infringement claims[7] regarding Apple’s Numbers spreadsheet program, CNET notes. The patent in question, which covers a “system and method for improved spreadsheet interface with user-familiar objects” was originally awarded in 1995 and is currently held by Data Engine Technologies. Numbers was introduced in 2007 as part of the iWork Suite and came to iOS in 2010. Data Engine Technologies is described in media accounts as a “non-practicing entity.” The suit was filed on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division.
