Professional social networking site LinkedIn (NYSE:LNKD) rolled out a new notification feature Wednesday.
The enhancement is similar to the “real-time” notification system used by Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), as it lets users know when someone likes what they’ve shared, comments on their posts, views their profile and more.
Here’s how it works:
- A notification flag will appear at the top of a user’s LinkedIn homepage, along with a new Inbox envelope icon.
- A red circle will appear in that area when something “new” is happening on that user’s page.
Although the new feature was introduced yesterday, LinkedIn says it will take a few weeks before all members’ pages are updated with the new feature.
The company also will soon be launching a new app that allows users to see their LinkedIn notifications via mobile devices like Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android and Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and iPad.
