In a move aimed at creating the most interactive shopping experience to date, Saks Fifth Avenue (NYSE:SKS) has put AT&T’s (NYSE:T) Wi-Fi network at the disposal of shoppers in all 44 of its store located throughout the U.S.
The in-store network, which was launched as a single entity in its flagship New York City store in November 2011, has been a tremendous success, with more than 1.5 million connections made to the flagship in-store network since the launch, and nearly 5 million connections in total throughout the store networks.
Network availability throughout the remaining 43 stores has been completed since that time, and now everyone who enters the stores is automatically connected to the network each time they visit a store.
What do shoppers get for their connection to the Saks App? Features of the Saks Fifth Avenue app include shareable wish lists for gifts and clothing, fashion books, event calendars, and of course the ability to shop online while already in the store. Customers are also able to exchange data back and forth with friends and customers to discuss purchases or view new clothing lines and looks.
Retailer Kohl’s (NYSE:KSS) recently joined the list of companies offering applications available through its stores, a bonus for the company heading into the critical holiday shopping season.
