Tycoon Offers $65M to Marry His Daughter

A wealthy businessman in Hong Kong has offered $65 million to any man who weds his daughter … but it’s more of a challenge than it seems.

That daughter, Gigi Chao, is a lesbian who has just eloped with her partner to France.

Businessman Cecil Chao — the chairman of Hong Kong developer Cheuk Nang Holdings who has a reputation as a flamboyant personality — claims to have received hundreds of proposals since his announcement last week, The Associated Press[1] reports.

Gigi, one of three of Cecil Chao’s children by three different mothers, is taking the attention well. She says she still loves her father and that he has interesting ways of showing his own love for her.

Cecil Chao says he’s offering the $65 million because his daughter deserves a comfortable life in Hong Kong. He believes that requires a home in Hong Kong worth at least $19 million.

She went on to tell the AP that her father was just upset after she got a “church blessing” in Paris with her long-term girlfriend.
