Baggage Handler Confesses to Stealing New $100 Bills

The 25-year-old comes clean after a FBI polygraph test

Crime certainly doesn’t pay, especially if you’re a young baggage handler in Philadelphia.

Alex Price, a baggage handler for US Airways (NYSE:LCC) at Philadelphia International Airport, stole $20,000 worth of the newly redesigned $100 bills. The bills were part of a shipment of $3.2 million worth of the new Benjamins that were heading to a Federal Reserve facility in New Jersey.

Price confessed after the FBI got involved and put him through a polygraph test. He then led agents to the place where he had hidden the cash.

The new hundreds have the latest security enhancements that the U.S. Mint has put in place. Included in the new bills are a 3D security ribbon as well as other enhancements. The new bills were intended to be in circulation by February of last year but were delayed due to printing issues. For further information on the new bills click here.
