Top 10 Locations With the Most Job Growth

[1]While some industries are adding workers at a fast pace, employment opportunities aren’t distributed equally across the country. Some major metropolitan areas are doing better than others at attracting new jobs[2].

Not surprisingly, places like Texas are thriving due to expanding oil and gas activity, while San Francisco is benefiting from increased technology company hiring.

CareerBuilder teamed with Economic Modeling Specialists (EMSI) to analyze U.S. employment trends and identify the American metropolitan area that are seeing the most employment growth.

The following ten Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), areas associated with large cities, are seeing the highest employment growth[3], according to CareerBuilder and EMSI:

1. San Jose, Calif. – 7% growth (63,290 jobs added)
2. Houston, Texas – 6% growth (165,969 jobs added)
3. Austin, Texas – 6% growth (49,131 jobs added)
4. Detroit, Mich. – 5% growth (92,407 jobs added)
5. Salt Lake City, Utah – 5% growth (34,137 jobs added)
6. Oklahoma City, Okla. – 5% growth (28,992 jobs added)
7. Raleigh, N.C. — 5% growth (24,725 jobs added)
8. Dallas, Texas – 4% growth (128,644 jobs added)
9. San Francisco, Calif. – 4% growth (84,014 jobs added)
10. Phoenix, Ariz. – 4% growth (81,606 jobs added)
