daily apple rumors AAPL[1]Here are your Apple rumors[2] and AAPL news items for today:

Heads Roll: Two top Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) executives are leaving the company[4], Fox News says. John Browett, senior vice president of retail sales, has left the company just six months after joining Apple, while Scott Forstall, senior vice president of iOS software development, will depart the company next year. Browett took the blame for confusion over reported jobs cuts and reduced working hours for Apple Store employees. Forstall oversaw the launch of Apple’s new in-house Maps app, which fell flat with iOS users who complained about glitches with the software and cartographic errors on the maps. The Maps app replaced Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG[5]) map program, which Apple dumped from iOS earlier this year. Forstall will remain with the company until a replacement has been found.

Big Sales: According to one analyst[6], Apple will sell 101.6 million iPads during fiscal 2013, AppleInsider notes. Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley says that the addition of the iPad Mini, which was unveiled last week, will accelerate overall iPad sales. Apple has sold 100 million iPads since the device was first debuted in 2010. Walkley predicts that Apple will account for 58.4% of all tablet sales next year. By contrast, Walkley estimates that Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN[7]) will sell just 10.7 million Kindle tablets in 2013, and Samsung just 8.4 million tablets. But iPad sales pale in comparison to the 193.9 million iPhones that Walkley forecasts Apple to sell in fiscal 2013.

Catching Up: The fourth-generation iPad took four days to exhaust its pre-order inventory[8], MacRumors notes. The updated full-sized iPad was unveiled last week along with the smaller-screen iPad Mini, new iMacs and a 14-inch Retina MacBook Pro. The white version of the iPad Mini sold out within an hour of the start of pre-ordering on Friday morning, while the black model took more than a day to sell out.
