The entire 2013 Fusion line has been named the Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal, winning the title against competition from Fiat‘s (PINK:FIATY) Chrysler Dodge Dart Aero, Toyota‘s (NYSE:TM) Prius C and Mazda’s CX-5 Skyactiv, the New York Times noted.

In fact, the Fusion beat out Ford’s other economy vehicle, the C-Max. Tesla‘s (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S was not included in the consideration because of its lowm production numbers and a very high pricetag.

The Fusion was chosen by a panel of judges that included Tonight Show host Jay Leno. Previous holders of the Green Car of the Year title include vehicles from Honda (NYSE:HMC) and Volkswagen (PINK:VLKAY).

Pricing for the Ford Fusion begins around $22,000. Its EcoBoost models get about 37 miles per gallon in highway condition driving.

The award was presented at the Los Angeles Car Show, which showcases the latest vehicles from the world’s leading car-makers.

Despite the good news, Ford shares fell more than 1% in Friday afternoon trading.
