GM announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week that both the upcoming Chevy Spark EV and the Chevy Sonic will allow users to automatically connect to Siri on their iPhones. The connection will be made via the Chevy’s MyLink System, reports detroit.cbslocal.com.
This is the first time that Apple has integrated Siri into vehicles. By launching “Siri in Eyes Free” mode in cheaper cars, instead of the more expensive luxury vehicles, both Apple and GM are hoping to appeal to younger car buyers who are more focused on getting the latest, coolest technology with their purchase.
From the release, the system will have these capabilities:
- Hands-free calling to iPhone contacts.
- Listen to and compose text and email messages
- Play songs in the phone’s iTunes library
Siri will also be included in the 2014 version of the Chevy Impala.
