Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is steaming mad about a review of his latest restaurant, Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar, that appeared in The New York Times.
The new restaurant, located in New York’s Times Square, was reviewed on Nov. 13 in extremely unfavorable terms. Reviewer Pete Wells spent 30 paragraphs posing snarky questions about the restaurant and Fieri.
Such as: “Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste? The watermelon margarita? Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde? ”
Wells’ overall grade: Poor.
Fieri, who hosts Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network, accused Wells of being “ridiculous.” He further said Wells was attempting to raise his own profile by going after Fieri.
Fieri defended his new eatery by saying, while it’s not yet perfect, it’s still very new. After being open for just two months, Fieri acknowledges that it’s still a work in progress, but he insists that it’s continuing to get better.
