Teen singer and heartthrob Justin Bieber was booed by fans this weekend — but the surprising part was who made up the chorus:
His fellow Canadians.
Bieber headlined the halftime show for the Grey Cup — the championship game for the Canadian Football League — and faced a difficult crowd, according to The Toronto Sun[1]. The singer’s appearance was heckled even before he began playing — just his image appearing on a stadium screen was enough to get the crowd against him Sunday.
The CFL hoped to appeal to a younger demographic with Bieber’s appearance. The singer performed hits Boyfriend and Beauty and the Beat.
Also appearing were Gordon Lightfoot, Johnny Reid, Burton Cummings, Carly Rae Jepsen and the group Marianas Trench.
