Winnipeg woman is wishing she had gotten an inspection first

Apparently she should have paid for the home inspection.

When Forsythe began renovations by trying to remove some wallboards,  she found was an enormous mouse infestation. Exterminators say it had to take five or more years or more to get that bad.

With the walls and floors filled with mouse droppings and other leavings, Forsythe has no choice but to spend the tens of thousands of dollars necessary to gut the structure and get it cleaned. Every bit of drywall and insulation will have to be replaced and everything with signs of mice will be disinfected.

Forsythe bought the home in May from the current occupants who did not disclose the infestation. While she didn’t pay for a home inspection, Forsythe says she did go in with contractors several times prior to closing on the home and no one noticed anything during those visits.

The previous owners claim to have had no knowledge of the mice problem. Forsythe says that it’s likely she’ll end up suing them.
