nsrgy Nesquik Recalled Due to Salmonella RiskNestle USA (PINK:NSRGY) is voluntarily recalling canisters of its Nesquik chocolate milk powder due to possible issues concerning salmonella contamination at a supplier.

The recall applies to canisters of Nesquik made in October. Customers with canisters featuring an expiration date of Oct.  2014 should return them for a refund. Concerned customers may contact Nestle Consumer Services at 800-628-7679.

Nestle became aware of the possibility of contamination when a supplier, Omya, issued its own recall of calcium carbonate with concerns about salmonella being in some batches. Calcium carbonate is one of the ingredients in Nesquik.

In a statement, Nestle said it was unaware of any illness caused by its products due to the contamination.

For those concerned, more information on the recall, including how to identify those canisters being recalled, can be found from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
