Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT) launch of the Surface tablet is expected to let fans of the Redmond tech titan’s numerous work-based applications have their cake and eat it on a tablet, too. But Microsoft isn’t just resting on the work force — development reportedly has begun on an edition of the Surface designed for gaming.
The Xbox Surface would feature a 7-inch screen and be designed with gaming needs in mind, The Verge reports. It also would feature a high-end processor and customer graphics memory to allow for the smooth, flowing experience required by the gaming community.
Sources said Microsoft is being cautious about the tablet’s production — design is being done in California’s Silicon Valley, and security at those buildings has been heightened recently.
The Xbox Surface reportedly would be produced by the same facility and using the same manufacturing system that handles the current Surface tablets.
