[1]Subscribers of Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC[2]) who saw their service disrupted by Hurricane Sandy will have a credit applied to their monthly bills without having to ask for one[3], the Associated Press notes.
Hurricane Sandy flooded coastal areas and toppled trees across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut last week, leaving millions of residents without power, Internet access or cable-TV service.
Other TV providers who serve Sandy-affected areas, including Cablevision (NYSE:CVC[4]) and Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ[5]), will apply account credits only to customers who report service outages, in compliance with existing policies.
However, Verizon’s cellular joint venture with Vodafone (NASDAQ:VOD[6]), Verizon Wireless, said that it would automatically credit customers in the region for call and text chargesĀ during the storm.
Shares of Time Warner Cable and Verizon rose fractionally in midday trading on Friday, while Cablevision shares climbed 2%.
