10 Most Popular Puppy Names of 2012

[1]Bella, Max, Daisy and Buddy are this year’s most popular names — for new puppies.

The list comes from VetStreet[2], a popular veterinary website, which examined more than 1.25 million registered puppy names in 2012. While most of the names are the same as last year, some might surprise you.

Bella, taken from the popular Twilight series of books and movies, is the top name for female puppies. Max tops the list for males. For females, Lola is a new entrant. On the male side, Zeus and Thor are on the way up.

Here’s the top 5 for male and female puppies[3]:

Female:

  1. Bella
  2. Daisy
  3. Lucy
  4. Molly
  5. Lola

Male:

  1. Max
  2. Buddy
  3. Charlie
  4. Rocky
  5. Cooper
