Random House CEO Markus Dohle announced that all Random House employees will get $5,000 bonuses, The New York Times reports. The success experienced by the publisher this year, largely on the back of the Fifty Shades series, is so great that the company wanted to give a little back.
Fifty Shades of Grey, the first book in the series, has topped the bestseller list for 37 weeks and shows little sign of losing steam. The other two books, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, have also spent many months in the top five.
Employees will receive their bonuses before Christmas. To qualify for a full bonus, employees must have worked at Random House for the entire year. Employees with less than a year’s time at Random House will receive a pro-rated bonus.
