Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is wading into high end online fashion retailing. In the United Kingdom, at least.
The Internet retailing giant is rolling out its new premium fashion storefront on its U.K. website on Monday, the Yorkshire Post notes.
This Monday is known in Britain as “Mega Monday,” during which online shopping hits an annual high, similar to “Cyber Monday” in the U.S. Last year, Amazon sold more than 3 million products in the U.K. on “Mega Monday.”
Among the popular U.K. brands included in the new store are Pringle, Black Orchid and 7 For All Mankind.
Amazon’s new fashion storefront will compete with other U.K. Internet apparel retailers including ASOS (PINK:ASOMY) and Net-A-Porter.
Earlier this month, Amazon said that it sold twice as many Kindle tablets during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in the U.S. compared to last year.
Shares of Amazon rose fractionally in Monday morning trading.
