Builders Bulldoze 18th Century Castle by Mistake

FranceFlag Builders Bulldoze 18th Century Castle by Mistake[1]A man who hired contractors to remove a small outhouse on his five-acre Bordeaux, France, estate, came home to find that they’d knocked down his entire castle[2].

Russian businessman Dmitry Stroskin, was stunned by the mistake, which saw his 18th-century Chateau de Bellevue reduced to rubble. But he has vowed to rebuild an exact copy of the destroyed Chateau, The Sun noted.

A formal complaint has been filed against the contractors who tore down the castle. Stroskin has signed a €1.5 million contract for masonry to rebuild the castle.

The contractors had been issued a permit to demolish small outbuildings on the property. The Chateau, which was in “very poor condition” was to be renovated and restored.

Local residents were reported to be in shock over the mix-up. An investigation has been launched by local officials.
